Diamond Designs by Bodis has been in business for over 40 years! I had the pleasure of speaking with Tim, and he told me the extremely interesting story of how his family got started in the jewelry business.

When Tim Bodis was only 8 years old, his parents bought him a rock tumbler. He started picking rocks out of driveways, and it wasn’t enough just to polish those rocks, he started making jewelry from those rocks. His father, who had a degree in Mechanical Engineering at that time, decided to start helping him out and took him to gem shops to find prettier rocks, which eventually led to Tim selling his rock jewelry at craft and vendor shows. As he got older, with the help of his parents, he started a wholesale Company called Rock Crafts Fine Jewelry. Things started to change gears from rocks to fine jewelry as that business grew and grew. His dad traveled to about ten states in the midwest selling jewelry, while Tim worked on setting stones. His parents eventually bought Willkam’s Jewelry store in 1978 on 101 N. Main Street. After a number of years, Diamond Designs by Bodis bought the building at 230 N. Main Street and built that up and that is where they are currently located. The business did move to the strip center where Pet Supplies Plus is currently located for about ten of those years and leased out their building to various businesses.

Tim bought the business from his parents in 2002. When his daughter was young, he bought her a rock tumbler and she had her own showcase in the store, but she ultimately made the move to go into cosmetology and fashion. February 15, 2022 is Tim’s 20th Year of owning Diamond Designs by Bodis. Congratulations Tim!
