The Rice Lake Chamber Member Spotlight for the month of November is Northwoods Cycle, owned by Allison Hall, Tim Bradley, and Alex Wolff.
Allison, originally from Rice Lake, met Tim, who is originally from Kansas City, in college as they were both getting their music degrees. After college, they started performing in bands and while living in the Twin Cities for 18 years, they tried to bike everywhere. When COVID hit, the music performances dried up, so Tim started working more with his hands fixing bikes and woodworking.
After much thinking and discussion, Tim and Allison decided they wanted a quieter life and made the move to Rice Lake. They wanted to provide more options for people in the area to move more and to create a community that wants to be outside. Fortunately, the old “Libbees” building fell into their lap. They did many of the renovations themselves and determined that they wanted a multi-use space as a community-focused area and that is how the Coffee Shop was established. This space will give them the flexibility to offer some classes on fixing bikes and so much more. It’s also a great meeting space for community members and groups.
Currently they perform in the Copper Street Brass in the Cities and Upper Midwest, which includes 5 brasses, percussion, guitar and piano. They play classical music, jazz pop, R&B and themed concerts. Tim also performs as a sub with the Minnesota Orchestra and Minnesota Opera and rock bands!
Agonic Brewing Company and Cheese Louise Sandwiches reached out to me at the Chamber wanting to do an award for Allison Hall and Tim Bradley at Northwoods Cycle as they were their safe place to go and provided a tremendous amount of help during and following the fire that took their businesses. Along with the owners, members of the Chamber Executive Committee and Chamber Ambassadors, we presented them with a “Good Neighbor” Award. It is amazing people like Tim and Allison that make our community so special. In times such as these, we need them.
Thank you, Tim and Allison at Northwest Cycle, for being a valued member of not only the Rice Lake Chamber, but the community as a whole!
