Brian Niemann, owner and founder, moved to Rice Lake in 1994 and proceeded to work at US Bank in the Investment Department until 2002. While there he oversaw ten banks in the northwest part of the state. In 2002, Brian decided to take a new direction and opened his own Firm, Wealth Management Group, LLC. His philosophy is that they are there to be consultants for clients, not salespeople. He does not want to push a product on someone that they do not need. They are a best practices firm that is very client focused.

In 2002, Brian opened the Rice Lake office at 7 W. Eau Claire Street, where he was a one-man show for several years with occasional help from his dad and wife. As the business started growing, in 2008 they decided to purchase and remodel an old bank in downtown Cumberland as a second location and eventually closed the Rice Lake office the same year. Wealth Management received awards at both the state and local levels for their remodel in helping to revitalize the Cumberland downtown area.

Brian would like to recognize how instrumental his wife, Michelle, has been in Wealth Management Group’s growth. She is an accountant by trade and after working as a CFO in the Twin Cities for many years, decided to give that up and work with Brian full-time. Michelle manages the marketing and operations side of the business, accounting, and keeps things going strong!

Upon their move to Cumberland, they started recruiting for additional advisors. They hired an advisor from Stillwater, Minnesota in 2009 and opened an office in Stillwater in 2010. Mike Martell, from Chippewa Falls came on board in 2011 and worked in the Cumberland location until 2013 when they expanded and opened an office in Chippewa Falls that he moved into. Steve Driever joined WMG in 2015 and works out of Chippewa Falls as well.

WMG also had another location and advisor in St. Germain, Wisconsin from 2012-2021.

Steve Bowman came on as an Advisor about 8 years ago and they reopened a Rice Lake office in the building with Real Estate Solutions. About 4 years ago, they had an unsolicited offer to purchase the Cumberland building and made the decision to sell and combine offices. WIPFLI just happened to be closing their location that exact month, and they were able to eventually purchase the building at their current location of 515 N. Main Street.

Wealth Management has had a very consistent and steady growth. In October of 2016, they acquired a practice in Fort Collins, Colorado. They had 2 advisors join that location – Paul Bankes in 2017 and Patti Scott in 2018. Paul moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 2021 so they opened a location there last August. They currently have 7 advisors at 5 offices in 4 states and 4 support staff with clients in 35 five states. They also have potential plans for two additional advisors and offices in Wisconsin by the end of this year.
