Since 1980, Embrace, formerly the TimeOut Shelter, has been providing safe shelter and services to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault in the four county service area of Rusk, Washburn, Barron, and Price Counties. For over 30 years, Embrace has worked to provide much more than just safe shelter to our communities. We provide outreach and community awareness efforts, preventative education, safe shelter, 24/7 crisis support, and a variety of comprehensive and sensitive direct services to help survivors navigate the systems. Ultimately, Embrace’s goal is to inspire social change and eradicate violence.
Embrace is the only domestic violence and sexual assault survivor services provider in the extremely rural and low-income service area. To best reach out and serve survivors in our communities, we have four offices with Staff spread throughout the service area. There’s an outreach office in Spooner, Barron and Phillips with the main office and safe shelter located in Ladysmith.
As a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status, we deeply value the trust that has been placed in us. Both the Staff and the organization’s Board of Directors are committed to the best practices in governance, accountability and transparency. Embrace is governed by a 17 member Board who bring expertise and knowledge from a variety of sectors in order to uphold the agency’s mission.
